Surprise Upset Keeps GW Out of Nationals
Monday, 29 March 2010 17:34

This past weekend, both of GW's teams faced four difficult and hard-fought rounds at the Opening Round Championship Tournament in Boston, MA. After winning five ballots, tying two and losing two (one of which was lost by a single point), GW's A-team finished the tournament in a tie for the last qualifying spot to Nationals. Unfortunately, a series of unlucky breaks left GW's combined strength (the sum of all ballots won by GW's opponents) one point short of winning the tie-breaker. As a result, GW took an honorable mention in seventh place, and unfortunately will not be attending the National Championship Tournament this year to defend its first place ranking.

We'd like to thank all of our opponents at the Boston tournament (Brandeis, Boston College, Harvard, Brown and Yale), and we'd like to wish the best of luck to all of the teams competing at the National Championship Tournament in Memphis, TN.

Congratulations are also due to all of GW's graduating members, who were vital to the past success of the organization and the rise of GW as a perennial powerhouse in collegiate mock trial competition. We wish them good luck as they move forward with their post-graduate plans and future careers.
